IP Stars from Managing IP -  Patent Star 2025 Member of the Washington Chapter of the Order of the Coif 

Kate assists clients with managing multi-asset patent portfolios, preparing and prosecuting US patent applications, performing invalidity and freedom to operate analyses, and counseling about various intellectual property (IP) matters. Kate has also served as a seconded patent counsel to a multinational technology company. Kate’s broad technical background enables her to help clients with complex interdisciplinary technologies. Prior to attending law school, Kate earned a degree in bioengineering and focused her coursework on electrical engineering, signal processing, and medical imaging. In addition, she helped develop a novel therapeutic ultrasound device, as well as a nanopore sequencing platform, as a laboratory researcher. Since becoming a patent attorney, Kate has leveraged her background in bioengineering to counsel clients in a number of technological areas, including diagnostic and therapeutic medical devices, computer networking, analog circuit design, and imaging. Kate has been selected to the 2024 Washington Super Lawyers Rising Stars list for her work in intellectual property.
