Susan advises clients on a variety of intellectual property (IP) issues including the drafting and prosecution of patent applications. She is a member of the firm’s Life Sciences and Chemical Practice Group. Susan’s expertise includes metallurgical chemistry and environmental chemistry, having specific experience with techniques including carbon combustion infrared detection, inert gas fusion detection, inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry, and a wide array of other analytical techniques. Susan also drafts and prosecutes patent applications in other technical areas including computer science, business methods, and mechanical. Susan is currently a member of the Editorial Advisory Committee for the official monthly magazine of the Washington State Bar Association, the magazine, Washington State Bar News. She also serves on the Pro Bono and Public Service Committee of the Washington State Bar Association. Prior to joining Lee & Hayes, Susan practiced in the areas of commercial litigation, securities litigation, transactions, and appellate advocacy at firms in Coeur d’Alene, Boise, and Washington, D.C. Susan completed her 3L year of law school at Georgetown University Law Center. Before attending law school, Susan worked as a metallurgical chemist for a large titanium and zirconium manufacturer.
